The Honors Major in Linguistics
Honors Advisor: David Odden, odden@ling.osu.eduHonors students majoring in linguistics are expected to follow a course of study which is more challenging than the regular major. This includes a more specific analytic prerequisite (higher level logic or statistics), a 50 credit-hour requirement, an area-depth requirement consisting of a sequence of two (typically) upper level courses in one subject area, and a required research seminar.
(At least 50 hours, excluding prerequisites)
- Prerequisite Course Work (15 hours) — does not count toward the minimum number of hours required in the major

Introductory course in linguistics: (5 hours)

Language requirement (one of the following): (5 hours)
Advanced foreign language course beyond 104 (preferably at the 200 level)
Linguistics 550 or 650.01 (Field Methods). This may also be satisfied by 5 hours at any level in a second not closely related language, by permission -
