Elizabeth Allyn Smith (PhD, ’10) has received tenure and been promoted to ‘professeure agrégée’ (associate professor) at the University of Quebec in Montreal. She has received grants from the SSHRC and FRQSC, become an associate editor of the International Review of Pragmatics, joined the executive board of the American Pragmatics Association, and is currently part of the scientific committee for the largest international academic conference held exclusively in French (for l’Association francophone pour le savoir: ACFAS). She continues to root for the Buckeyes and says that department members and alumni will always have a place to stay in Montreal.
Kodi Weatherholtz (PhD, ’15) and his wife Dani welcomed Emalyn Sawyer Weatherholtz to their family on 8/28/15.
Georgios Tserdanelis (PhD, ’05) has just started a new position: manager, Voice User Experience at Walgreens.
Andrea Sims (PhD, ‘06) just published a new monograph, “Inflectional Defectiveness” (Cambridge University Press).
Rex Wallace (PhD, ’84) recently curated an archaeological exhibit in Murlo, Italy with the assistance of Sarah Kansa and Caroline Horovitz. The exhibit is entitled, “Vinum: Poggio Civitate and the Goddess of Wine.”
Liz McCullough (PhD, ’13) has accepted a postdoctoral position in the Phonetics Laboratory in the Linguistics Department at the University of Washington in Seattle (http://depts.washington.edu/phonlab/index.htm). She will work with Laboratory Director Richard Wright, in addition to conducting her own research and teaching.
Rory Turnbull (PhD, ’15) has accepted a postdoctoral position at the Laboratoire de Sciences Cognitives et Psycholinguistique in the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris. He will work with Laboratory Director Sharon Peperkamp, in addition to conducting research in phonetics, phonology and psycholinguistics.
