In summer of 2016, major renovations will begin on Oxley Hall, the Department of Linguistics’ home since 1992. The renovations are slated to take two years, after which the Department of Linguistics will return to a much-improved Oxley Hall. Acock and Associates, the architects for the Oxley-Pomerene renovation project, presented initial plans for the renovation on April 8th. These plans address the need for better environmental controls in the building, more space for the department and better disabilities access.
While the renovation is ongoing, the department will move into temporary offices in the east side of Ohio Stadium (unfortunately, we won’t have special access to the games!). We are already beginning the process of packing and organizing the move, and preparing our new offices for the next few years. The move should happen in mid-to-late July, so that we’re ready for the new academic year to begin in August.
