Kyle Maycock received this year’s Kenneth E. Naylor Award recognizing students who show excellence in South Slavic and Balkan Studies, given annually by the Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures under the auspices of the Kenneth E. Naylor Professorship in South Slavic Linguistics. Kyle was also awarded an undergraduate research scholarship.
Malka Steinberg was awarded a Huntington International Fellowship Award from the Center for Languages, Literatures and Cultures to study abroad in Spain.
Katriese DeLeon was awarded a Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowship for 2021-2022 to study Portuguese.
Grace LeFevre was awarded second place in the Language Development and Understanding category at the Denman Undergraduate Research Forum for her presentation on quantifying the inflection class structure of Spanish verbs.
Shelby Gogal received the OSU Alumni Assocation (OSUAA) endowment scholarship. She also placed 2nd in the 2020 Online Korean Speech Contest.
Shelby Gogal also received an Excellent Award in the Intermediate Level competition at the Second Midwest Korean Speech Contest.
Kenna Miller received the Chris Lee Korean Performance Reward for her academic excellence in Korean philosophy and cultural performance
Margot Hare was accepted for the NSF-funded REU at North Carolina State University for analyzing biases with artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms.
Nick Bednar was awarded the Linguist LIST's Rising Star Award.
Anna Taylor was awarded the Global Arts & Humanities Discovery Theme Fellowship, as well as an undergraduate research scholarship, and the Career Accelerator Grant.
