Hola! 

My name is Angélica and I am a graduate here at OSU! I completed my undergraduates studies at Universidad de Puerto Rico, recinto de Mayagüez (Colegio tu papá!!). I was born and raised on the island (Boricua aunque naciera en la luna) and I'm what they call a first gen! Aside from pursuing this degree because I am curious and a nerd, the end goal will always be to find way to give back to mi Isla. My work focuses on Sociolinguistics, Raciolinguistics and a bit of Linguistic Anthropology! Currently I am working with Language and Identity, Language Policy, and Political Ideologies!! I specifically focus with the Puerto Rican community on the island! I have worked with the concept of Language, Identity, and Authenticity with in Miss Universe Puerto Rico (MUPR) by analyzing online discourse. My previous work has focused on the paralinguistic functions of emojis and their role in conveying scalar implicatures.
