Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

I study consonant clusters and sonority sequencing from a functionalist perspective. I explore approaches that consider the articulatory demands of consonant production. I am interested in how such demands may result in the patterns ascribed to the markedness of particular consonant clusters and the patterns observed in sonority sequencing. I am also interested in the development of vowels between historical consonant clusters.
