BibTex is a file format used in the construction of bibliographies for LaTex. This tutorial, offered by Symon Stevens Guille,  discusses the basics of writing a BibTex bibliography and integrating it with LaTex documents. Although BibTex is quite useful on its own, it can be tedious to construct bibliographies by hand. Luckily, there are several excellent free programs to generate bibliographies that can be exported to BibTex. We will demonstrate one such program, Mendeley, and show how bibliography entries can be automatically generated from web-page information in a browser and/or by reading off the contents of .pdf files stored locally on your machine. By the end of the tutorial, participants should feel comfortable with the basic structure of a BibTex file, how such a file can be written and integrated with a LaTex document, and how Mendeley can expedite the process of constructing a BibTex bibliography.
