third Persian province, next to the river Halys, which rises in the mountains of Armenia, flows through Cilicia, and then continues with Matiene to the north and Phrygia to the south; after leaving these countries sbehind, its course takes it north, where it skirts the territory of the Syrian cappadocians and to the west that of the Paphlagonians.
