At the end of June, we welcomed alumni and former faculty back to campus for the 50th anniversary of the graduate program in linguistics at Ohio State. Brian Joseph (faculty, 1979-present), Mary Beckman (faculty, 1985-present) and Keith Johnson (PhD 1988, faculty 1993-2004) gave a presentation on the history of the department, and we heard reminisces and thoughts from our returning alumni and faculty.
Alumni, our current faculty, and students also had a chance to discuss current research as well as industry accomplishments and outreach projects during a poster session on the second day of the celebration. The highlight of our evening gathering was the presentation of the 180th PhD in linguistics at Ohio State to Patrick Reidy, advisee of Mary Beckman.
