Scott Martin accepts position at Nuance Communication

Picture of Scott Martin

Congratulations to Scott Martin, who has accepted a position as a Research Scientist at Nuance Communication's new natural language understanding lab in Silicon Valley. Scott tells me he will be 'semantics person' on a team that will build the next generation of conversational user interfaces.

Scott says, "The position is something of a mix of academia and industry, and I'll be able to publish and go to conferences, etc. I'm really, really psyched about this. It was definitely at the very top of my preference list for jobs. You've probably heard of some of my colleagues: our own Chris Brew, Ron Kaplan (the LFG guy), Adwait Ratnaparkhi, Joel Tetreault, and Valeria de Paiva. Anyway, just wanted to spread the word. Sometimes we S-siders actually do get jobs!"
